Risk Manager

Job Description:

The Risk Manager facilitates and oversees all HealthPlus Network facilities for patient and staff risk management programs. Oversees the consolidation, analysis, and follow-up of organization-wide Occurrence Variance Reporting (OVR) and Risk Register development and implementation program. Documents and maintains trending data on patient and staff incidents. Initiates actions for problem resolution with positive outcome. Assists with education of staff and leaders regarding risk management. Takes lead role in implementing EOC Program.

Qualifications:

Degree in healthcare field or equivalent qualification by education and/or experience.Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Supports organization in identifying areas for improvement, setting and implementing local or system wide improvement plans and monitoring the outcomes while updating policies as necessary.
• Conducts Systematic System Analysis following incidents with harm, potential harm or trends that involves looking at system failures, issuing a report and spreading the learning across health centers.
• Conducts needed training sessions for staff in identifying and managing their risks and incidents. Support them to demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety and take necessary measures to prevent them from happening.
• Supports stakeholders in understanding risks in their area of work, develop plans on how to mitigate those risks, and develop shared accountability for implementing and evaluating the plan.
• Performs risk assessments for new health centers during the planning phase and post-opening.
• Develops and implements customized Risk Register for each center with stakeholders.
• Compiles relevant information for the monthly Risk Management Report which consists of an overview with focus on areas for improvement and actionable recommendations.
• Provides training to all staff on Risk Management System as part of the Quality Improvement Training Program, and the yearly Patient Safety Campaign on the different Quality tools and concepts (PDCA, RCA, Fishbone, FMEA etc.).
• Serves as an educator, communicator, and resource to staff to understand quality improvement, patient safety, risk management and the organization’s accreditations objectives.
• Provide required reports to governmental agencies (DOH, DHA etc.).
• Initiate Quality improvement projects.
• Conduct EOC and other Internal Mock audits and tracers.
• Reviews/Revises quality and risk management programs annually.
• Maintains an effective system for identifying, evaluating, documenting risk and safety concerns.
• Assists in coordination of regulatory survey process.
• Implements HealthPlus wide Culture of Safety Program.
• Updates and maintains Safety & Risk management Plans regularly.
• Coordinates the EOC Surveillance Program of HealthPlus. Maintains and disseminates results of the EOC Surveillance.
• Initiates staff training on completion of patient incident reporting and safety program. Provides orientation and in-service training as needed.
• Investigates, makes recommendations and provides follow through on all patient incident reports and quality issues.
• Directs ongoing, organization wide collection of information about deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Reports on findings, recommendations, actions taken and results of the quality and risk management programs to the appropriate committees.
• Implementation of JCI standards & preparation for the JCI accreditation.
• Implements HealthPlus wide Culture of Safety Program.
• Updates and maintains Safety & Risk management Plans regularly.

Required Experiences:

Exhibits knowledge of Risk Management processes and safety initiatives in a healthcare setting. Exhibits knowledge of Quality Management processes. 5 years experience of Risk Management or Quality Management in a healthcare setting. Knowledge and experience with JCIA, preferred. Minimum of two (2) year experience at a supervisory level.

• Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
